DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore is offering a new series of Master Classes for students at Singapore Polytechnic and Nanyang Polytechnic.
DigiPen faculty members will be presenting on important topics related to game design, computer science, and digital art, as well as share from their own professional experience working in the game and animation industries.
The first event was held in March at Singapore Polytechnic. Guest speaker Lee Minwoo, DigiPen’s senior lecturer in game software design and production, presented on “How to Manage a Player’s Experience.” He emphasized the importance of understanding a player’s personal motivations as a key starting point for designing better games.
“It was good to communicate with Singapore Polytechnic students. I didn’t even notice that the two-hour lecture time had already passed, and I was glad to see many of the students come up and ask questions at the end,” Minwoo said. “They wanted to learn more about the theories I explained.”
Minwoo has been working in the game industry for 12 years, most recently as a senior designer on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag at Ubisoft Singapore.
The next lecture will take place on May 7 at Nanyang Polytechnic, with senior lecturer Sandara Tang presenting on illustration techniques. Tang previously worked at Southern Star, Koei Entertainment, and Zealot Digital. That event will be open to all Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic students.
