The student game Lurking from DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore has been selected to appear at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas.
Chosen as one of 30 indie game titles to be demoed at the SXSW Gaming Expo, Lurking will also be competing to win the “Gamer’s Voice” award as voted on by festival attendees.
Best known for its massive lineup of live musical performances, the 10-day festivities at SXSW also include film screenings, art exhibitions, conference seminars, and more. 2015 marks the second year of the SXSW Gaming Awards ceremony.
This isn’t the first honor Lurking has received, having previously won the 2014 IGF China awards for “Best Student Game” and “Excellence in Technology.” Lurking was also selected as one of 10 finalists at the Tokyo Game Show’s annual Sense of Wonder Night. In addition, the game has garnered more than 8 million views on YouTube, thanks to a number of high-profile Let’s Play channels that have showcased the game’s equal measures of terror and delight.
The SXSW Interactive Festival runs from March 13-17. If you’re planning to attend, be sure to stop by the Lurking booth and cast your vote!
